Originally from Northern California, I grew up with my parents, older sister, and of course a menagerie of pets. I trekked across the country to Maine to attend Bowdoin College, where I majored in Biology and minored in Art History. Despite the long, snowy winters (especially as a “soft” Californian) I developed a great passion for all things outdoors, particularly hiking and white water rafting. For veterinary school I decided to leave the Maine woods and head to the University of Pennsylvania in the great city of Philadelphia!
I have dreamed of being a veterinarian for as long as I can remember with my earliest Halloween costumes including a Dalmatian and Dr. Doolittle! I began shadowing at our local veterinary clinic in elementary school. Over the years I have worked in a variety of veterinary settings including small animal clinics, shelters, an equine surgery center, and even a summer abroad in Kenya interning with Kenya Wildlife Services. I love the diversity offered in veterinary medicine, and my various experiences (and my 3 childhood dogs!) helped me realize my primary passion lies in small animal medicine. My professional areas of interest include emergency medicine and critical care, cardiology, and general practice.
In my free time I enjoy anything outdoors, marathon running, playing guitar and ukulele, baking, and of course cuddling my cat named Allagash. I am very excited about living in DC and absolutely thrilled to be a part of the Friendship team!
