IRIS Renal Week Conference

Friendship Hospital for Animals internal medicine doctor, Dr. JD Foster, was one of the organizers of the IRIS Renal Week conference, but also gave a number of lectures and labs:
  • Drug dosing for patients with kidney disease
  • Hemodialyzers, hemofilters, and plasma separators
  • Water purification for hemodialysis
  • Update on IRIS consensus guidelines for extracorporeal blood purification
  • Update on facility certification of ERRT proficiency by the ASVNU
  • Vascular access lab
  • Therapeutic plasma exchange lab
  • Cytapheresis lab
 
Also, Dr. Torre gave an oral abstract from her research project (The performance of urine microscopy to predict urine culture results in dogs and cats), which was very warmly received. She came in 2nd place in the oral abstract category.

Dr. Foster graduated from the University of Pennsylvania veterinary school. Upon becoming a board certified internal medicine specialist, Dr. Foster spent four years running the hemodialysis and blood purification service at the University of Pennsylvania before coming to FHA in 2016.
