Friendship Fund for Humane Education
Unfortunately, vicious cruelty and ignorant neglect toward animals are terrible and constant truths in our city. The most effective prevention of animal cruelty is education. The Friendship Fund for Humane Education was established in 1998 to support the efforts of the Washington Humane Society (WHS) in educating children regarding the proper treatment of animals. In 2008, the Fund was expanded to include the efforts of the Washington Animal Rescue League (WARL).
Friendship Hospital for Animals matches donations to the WHS and WARL up to $50,000 in aggregate. In the history of the Fund, we have never failed to provide the full matching funds thanks to the generosity of our clients. Working together in this way, Friendship Hospital for Animals, WARL, and WHS hope to produce a new generation of animal protectors and advocates.
Friendship also provides discounted veterinary services to both WHS and WARL. In addition, Friendship is often called upon to testify on behalf of WHS and abused animals in DC courts. We are exceptionally proud of our relationships with WHS and WARL and the cooperation that exists between all three organizations.
