Community Service Leave

Friendship provides all staff members employed for at least one year with paid leave so that they have an opportunity to “give back” to the community. Friendship provides six paid days of community service leave each year to qualified staff members. Staff members may use the leave for the community service of their choice. Friendship employees have used their leave to work for schools and churches and animal humane organizations. One staff member saved up his leave to go to South Africa with his church to help rebuild an impoverished community there.

Following the Hurricane Katrina disaster, Friendship staff members used their community service leave to go to the disaster area to aid the animal shelters. Veterinarians and Friendship managers spent time organizing the shelter and caring for the thousands of lost and abandoned pets.
